Every February 1st, comic artists from around the world participate in Hourly Comic Day.
The idea is that, for every hour we are awake, we draw a comic about our day.
This is my second time doing Hourly Comic Day; the first time was on a weekday in 2023, back when I worked in a newsroom in Portland, and those comics provided kind of a cool look into the day-to-day of being a journalist. (I logged a few of them on my Instagram if you wanna see!) I was unable to participate last year on account of being in the thick of COVID!
I loved doing it this year because it fell on a Saturday. If it had fallen on a weekday, it would have been very boring, because these days, my weekdays are very uneventful as I just draw and draw and draw until it’s time to make dinner, vibe out, and go to sleep.
That’s the kind of mundane nobody wants to hear about. My weekends, however, usually spent doing chores and spending quality time with my partner and cat, are the beautiful kind of mundane.
